Changes in parents’ perceived injury risk after a medically-attended injury to their child


This study examines when, in the year following a medically-attended injury, parents perceive the greatest risk of injury recurrence. Since perception of injury risk is associated with parental preventive behavior, this can inform decisions on the timing of parent-targeted interventions to prevent re-injury. Avoiding a dystopian future for children’s play


Children’s play is increasingly controlled, costly and standardised. Risk aversion has resulted in attempts to eliminate all danger despite the limited health burden of play-related injuries and missing cost–benefit evidence. We provide recommendations for play providers, standard setters, inspectors and public health.

Examining the Relationship Between Firefighter Injuries and Fatalities in the Built Environment


The purpose of this study is to describe firefighter injuries and deaths in structure-related fires and to investigate the underlying connection between building properties, including fire safety measures, and their effects on the risk to firefighters responding to a fire event.
