Injuries from falls, car crashes, poisoning, suicide and other incidents cost British Columbia $3.7 billion in just one year – that’s over $400,000 an hour. The BC Injury Research & Prevention Unit has just released the Economic Burden of Injury in British Columbia report which breaks down the causes of injury, rates and costs within each BC health authority, showing where injury prevention efforts in each health authority could have the greatest return on investment.
